There is nothing more American than both fantasizing about and being infatuated with the idea of exploring life in Paris. Whether you plan on going to Paris or take an annual trip, my love affair first began in college on a trip with one of my oldest friends, Ann-Marie, and our mothers. It was there that my curiosity for the world around me grew, my obsession with Nutella crepes (but especially Nutella overall), and exploring the idea of living life in another country. I would later go on to live in another country that was once colonized by France, but that’s another story for another day.
I am by no means a Paris pro, but want to share a few experiences that I found unique and fun while there. One stop I’ve made on almost every trip to Paris I’ve been on is the Louvre Museum. It was overcast and rainy on my last trip, and I would highly recommend against wearing high platform boots given the sheer amount of walking. Nonetheless, exploring the Louvre followed up by a lunch at Lou Lou was afternoon time well spent, especially with sharing this time with my loved ones.
For a fun dinner spot, you must try Pink Mamma! Living up to its name replete with pastel pink bricks lining the outside walls, the food and decor on the inside both equally lived up to the hype. Yes, do it for the ‘gram, but also go there for the good food, ambiance, and service.
One of my favorite experiences was exploring La Galerie Dior. It was my first time visiting any fashion-based museum, and it was enriching to learn about the history and unique impact of Parisian Haute Couture from iconic designs to impact in the media throughout the years. The tour ended with a stop at the Dior Cafe, where I was not expecting to have the best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had in my life. Ten out of ten–highly recommended for museum lovers even if fashion isn’t your thing.
