I could not let this month pass by without a tribute to the bold, fierce, aspirational, and accomplished women who inspire me both near and far. From the original Wonder Woman extraordinaire, Lynda Carter, to global music phenomenon and businesswoman, Beyonce Giselle Knowles Carter, women like this continue to blaze the trail for me and so many others by showing us what defying the odds looks like.
This year’s Women’s History Month certainly did not disappoint. From meeting Lynda Carter at a fabulous women’s luncheon hosted by CHANEL and afternoon teas replete with the fanciest fascinators and hats to suit to me being honored with a special Women’s History Month tribute by my alma mater and being empowered by Beyonce’s latest groundbreaking album, Cowboy Carter, I am truly grateful to have so many inspirational women in my life.
When I think of what makes a woman influential and powerful, I think of the traits of the women who have inspired and positively impacted my life over the years. These women are genuine, kind, manage their households, volunteer in their local communities, lead across various organizations, are confident yet humble, and find ways to remind me of my place in this world and how much I mean to them, to name a standout few.
Womanhood and sisterhood are unique in that they carry responsibility and can, at times, be misused if guided by marginal or false pretenses. Men also champion women and womanhood just as much as women do, and I remain grateful for all the supportive and bridge-building men in my life who champion me, as well as other women around them. What humanity has shown me as I continue to evolve is that we all need each other—through life’s ups, downs, imperfections, and delights, we must use our will to uplift and encourage one another whenever possible. No gesture is ever too big or small.
May we all remember the power we hold to inspire other women (and the men who support us) to be better stewards for ourselves and our global community!
